From September 9 to 12, 2005, the FDI World Dental Congress 2025 was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

Returning to the Chinese mainland after more than a decade, the congress was themed "Building the Future of Oral Health Together" and achieved the largest academic scale in FDI history.

Adopting a dual-hall linkage model, the event featured an exhibition area of over 60,000 square meters, attracting more than 400 enterprises to showcase cutting-edge global dental technologies.

In parallel, dental professionals from more than 140 countries were invited to deliver over 200 academic sessions covering multiple specialties and integrated with diverse events.

AI real-time translation supported global knowledge sharing, while innovative achievements from Chinese dental schools highlighted the shift from "technology follower" to "standard leader".

On the afternoon of September 11, at the General Meeting of the FDI Membership,

Professor Liu Yi, Director of the Chinese Stomatological Association, was elected as an FDI Council Member by a large margin after four rounds of voting.

This marks the first time the Chinese Stomatological Association has secured a seat on the council since joining the FDI in 1995.

With this election, two of the ten FDI Council members are now from China.
