According to different production materials, all-ceramic teeth can be divided into glass-ceramic all-ceramic teeth and alumina and zirconia all-ceramic teeth.

1. Glass-ceramic all-ceramic teeth

Such as: hot die-cast porcelain crown (Empress I, II, III generation), glass penetration porcelain crown, and glass ceramic crown grinding by CAD/CAM technology.

The hardness of the glass-ceramic all-ceramic crown is not very high, and the strength is not particularly large, but the permeability is particularly good, the color is particularly good, and the effect of aesthetic restoration can be achieved for the restoration of the anterior tooth area.

However, the glass-ceramic all-ceramic crown is not suitable for the restoration of the back teeth, and it is also not suitable for the restoration of the porcelain crown, because the strength is not enough, and the bite and crack of the all-ceramic crown will be caused when the posterior teeth are restored.

2. Alumina and zirconia all-ceramic teeth

The inner crown of alumina and zirconia is completed by grinding using CAD/CAM technology, and then the outer layer of porcelain is added through layered porcelain stacking technology to produce the finished all-porcelain tooth or all-zirconium crown without outer layer of decorative porcelain.

Zirconia all-ceramic crowns, with their relatively high hardness and strength, are widely used in the restoration of anterior and posterior dental areas, and there is no problem for the restoration of multi-unit crowns in the posterior dental area and even porcelain bridges.

However, when the zirconia all-ceramic crown is used for anterior tooth restoration, because the permeability of zirconium dioxide is not as good as that of glass ceramics, its color is not beautiful enough, so when doing the aesthetic restoration treatment of anterior teeth, the zirconia all-ceramic crown should be carefully considered.
